Narratives or performances that emphasize the ridiculous and the absurd in human life, or that expose pretensions and hypocrisy, causing laughter and delight. Comedy tends to get a bad press compared to the loftier and nobler genre of tragedy, but arguably contains as much or more wisdom, substituting the earthy facts of existence for the inflated ideals of tragedy.
In other words its funnier than an idiot singing the national anthem.
